BaZi (八字, "eight characters") is a system from traditional Chinese metaphysics that maps your birth date and time onto Four Pillars — Year, Month, Day, and Hour — each with a Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch. The Day Master (your Day stem) is your core "self" element, and the rest of the chart shows how the Five Elements interact around you.

No. The 12-animal Zodiac is just one slice (the Year Branch). BaZi is far more granular — it uses all four pillars and the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water).

For the Hour Pillar, yes — within ±15 minutes is fine. If you don't know, you can still get an accurate 3-pillar reading by checking the "I don't know" box. Year, Month, and Day are still computed correctly.

BaZi traditionally uses local solar time at your birth coordinates, not clock time. We adjust your clock time by your longitude (and optionally the equation-of-time) to get the correct Hour Pillar.

The chart calculation (pillars, hidden stems, Ten Gods, element balance, luck cycles) is mathematically accurate against traditional methodology. The interpretation layer is based on classical BaZi rules + modern phrasing.

No. BaZi is descriptive, not deterministic. Your chart shows tendencies and patterns; your choices and environment determine outcomes. We frame results as self-reflection, not prediction.
